Natural Families Network

The Children & Nature Network has several main initiatives, including the "Natural Families Network". This is a forum for inspiration, support and sharing of ideas and resources among families. Many families are also family nature club leaders or members, but you don't have to be in order to join in the conversation!

for Kids

Reading is important. Nature is important. Why not combine the two?! Here is a list of books for kids, broken down by age range, that are related to nature. Use these books, both stories and non-fiction, as a starting point for conversation, sharing, and getting out into the real world to explore!

Checklist for Camping

Whether you've never been camping before or you're a seasoned veteran, it never hurts to have a list to double check yourself as you prepare to head out to the great outdoors overnight. Contacting your local outdoor adventure store is also a great resource with knowledgable people!

Hiking​ with Kids

Don't feel like you've got to go out and spend lots of money in order to get out and explore. Usually all you'll need will be a good pair of walking/hiking shoes, sun protection, plenty of water and a snack. However, there are some things that are "fun" to have along, especially with kids!
